I think you both make good points. It does seem to be true that schoolies are the most likely fish to hang around fishermen and boats. Only rarely can I remember large fish exhibiting that type of behavior. The exception seems to me to be the San Juan. Also, I've made the same observation as J.H., those same fish that follow you will "get the heck out of Dodge" when you drop a strike indicator or a fly they find inappropriate in front of them.
