This week's tip was submitted by Wes Brown. It's a great idea for those that watch their backcast.
Here's a tip about fly casting.
When teaching a beginner to fly cast instead of tying on a leader on a 5 wt. rod, tie on about three feet of yarn directly to the fly line. This does three things:
- It slows the casting action down a bit.
- It gives perfect turnovers just about every time.
- And it tracks straight as an arrow.
It makes it real easy for a beginner. I've never
heard of anyone doing this before but it's also fun just to mess around with.
Thanks,
Wes Brown
