Lance,
Apparently Jim is away from his computer, but hopefully he won't mind if I give my thoughts on it. I've been guilty every year of fishing when the browns run on the LMF. As far as I know, there's never been a documented spawn on the river, but hopefully that will change. And yes, that is probably the best time of year to hook up with a nice brown on the LMF. Unless it's changed, some states such as Arkansas, prohibits fishing in certain areas of their trout rivers, for the browns during the spawn. Up on the creek(Spillway) for about the last four or five years, I've witnessed what looked like browns trying to spawn. Maybe, maybe not. They were in very shallow gravely bottomed water, and of course, paired up. I didn't and will not in the future, fish for them. Like Jim's feelings, I too feel like Spillway, as of right now, has the best chance of recruitment. Also, I was up in Colorado last week, and there again, I witnessed some brookies spawning. And too, I left them alone. Even though the small stream could probably not stand another brookie, I still didn't want to bother them. I know this may sound like an oxymoron(sp?), but I am guilty of fishing on the LMF when the browns are running, but if I see some browns, or rainbows, paired up, I try my best not to disturb them. Hopefully soon, we will see some reproduction on the LMF.
