Another way to make parachutes is to use those artificial tail fibers. They are always long and stiff. I tie in the tail and wind up to about ¾ the length of the hook. Then build up a post like you would for a wing on a Catskill type fly. But don’t divide the fibers. Keep them together. Then wind around the base and back onto the hook. This will be the post for your hackle. The fibers are stiff enough to wrap around. Oh yes don’t forget to add the wing material. Good luck.
