I saw the latter aphid you described, and took one to Sid's shop where we looked at it under his microscope. A small sulphur dry tied with just a tail, dubbing and hackle (no wing), made a crude imitation. I'm gonna try to tie some other imitations, hopefully not as crude and something the fish will like as well. On the presentation side of the same coin, the fish seemed to like an excruciatingly long dead slow drift to get a rise.
I talked about the guy from Dallas with the Stimulator w a dropper that let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, and would get lots of strikes when the other 4 of us fishing the same area only got a few.
Duck season is over, so I've gotta get up that way.
