I like the idea of the threaded one for light line stuff. Fishing saltwater I've had a critical failure of the chinese finger trap model.

Now I use a loop made of the end of the fly line. I trim the end off at a long angle with a razor blade. Make a loop, and nail knot it with 10# mono 2 or 3 times, one behind the other. Then handshake to a perfection loop in the leader. This is a very strong connection. I learned it from an article on flyfishing for sailfish. It comes through the guides well. The only fault I see with it is a slight splash when it hits the water. That might or might not be critical at the LMF depending on the mood of the fish, and the length of your leader. They last a long time.
