This easiest way to check to see if sunglasses are polarized is to hold one lens of one pair in front of a lens from the known polarized pair. Rotate in a circle (about 90 degrees) one of the sunglass, while keeping the two lens aligned. If both are polarized you will notice that the amount of light varies (almost black) as you rotate one of the lens.
