Good points, but as far as casting to the bank goes, I've found some great water right next to the bank. Such spots were always on the outside of a bend under a cut-bank where the water was deep (for the size of the stream) and the shadows gave the trout a good hiding place. I don't know of such a spot on the LMF, but on other streams, especially small ones, such spots have yielded good catches.
