I just realized I stated that darters have longer noses than minnows, which is true, and the darter pictured has a blunt nose. The darter family is a very large one and they come in many shapes. Most of the ones that I've seen in the LMF have long noses. Some are beautifully colored while others...well...aren't. There is even one that is on the endanged list that is only found in the Ouachita forest water shed. Be warned though, I do believe all darters are protected and are not to be caught or handled in any way.
Sorry if there was any confusion.
