Goig This Weekend. Rain Effects?

I am heading down this weekend with my wife to see if I can't help her get her first fish on a fly. I've been watching the weather and this weekend looks good, but it looks they have been getting pounded with rain all last night and it looks like it won't stop until later this evening.

Should I be worried about the river? Do you think a day and a half will be enough time for it to clear up? Maybe a good time to use San Juan Worms?

    What do you all think?

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Jason,
We fished there last winter and summer during a rain storm. The water was up and we had good success with the SJ worms on the banks and beaded woolies in the film.
    Good luck

We have been getting hammered in North TX, but I have been watching BB pretty carefully since I am coming up as well. I'm not there, but it doesn't look like they have gotten near as much as us.

Thanks BuddeFamily. I'll give some Juan's a try.

I was watching the radar yesterday thinking wow thats a lot of water moving real slow. I lived in Paris (really Powderly) for 8 years and I can't remember ever getting that much rain.

I spoke with a park employee yesterday and she said they had gotten quite a bit but she thought they might still stock today! She said they also did an unscheduled stocking last Thursday so at least there might be fish to catch.

Near Deeres should do the trick Brad? ;)

Stopped by Spillway Creek briefly this evening. Lots of fish, water just fine and fish cooperating. By the looks of the river they definetly stocked today. Didn't have a chance to check out the areas below Spillway but would expect you should not have any problems in the park. Good luck you should get into plenty of fish.

I tied a buch up and tried them this evening with ZERO luck. The two fish brought to hand were on a red 14 zebra and a 12 pheasant tail. Hopefully the ND will work better in the morning. I'll have a red pullover or green jacket on with a green hat.

I'll holler at ya if I see ya.

Hoss, you sure were right. Absolutely murdered the fish this weekend. Caught about 45 bows on Saturday. Out of 4 holes! My best day up there to date... Great stuff.
