Dry Fly Suggestion for Winter

Recently I've been seeing a few fish rising in the evenings on the LMFR, some jumping completly out of the water. I'd like to get your input on fishing dry flies in the winter months. I know fly selection depends on the hatch on hand but have not seen many recommendations for dry flies. I've had good luck in the summer months with a griffiths gnat as a dry fly.

Any recommendations on size and type of dry fly for the winter months would be greatly appreciated! Is it even worth the effort during these winter months to try for them on top?

Also, been having good luck with the Walt's Midge pattern (shown in the fly tying section of this site). Really helped me scratch a few extra fish along the way this weekend. It amazes me still how I can get fish on a size 22 fly.

    Tight lines.

Midges size 20 or less. Every once in a while a March brown will pop out. If it is cloudy try a Blue wing Olive size 18 or smaller.

    Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give it a try and let you know.

    Slim,

Regarding a report, I just posted my weekend fishing activities and will let you know how I do on the dries.
